In Mysterious Behind Sunglasses, Putu Sutawijaya presents a striking portrait of Suharto through a contemplative and psychologically charged visual language. The monumental composition emphasizes presence rather than narrative, capturing an enduring figure whose image remains deeply embedded in Indonesia's collective memory. Rendered in subdued monochromatic tones, the portrait is layered against a background of handwritten text, suggesting history, reflection, and the complexity of leadership across time. The dark glasses and military cap create an aura of calm authority and introspection, while the expressive painterly surface reveals Putu Sutawijaya's sensitivity toward memory and identity. Mysterious Behind Sunglasses stands as a powerful meditation on legacy, perception, and historical remembrance.
