| b. Jember, E. Java, Indonesia, 1957. He studied at the Indonesian Fine Art High school and continued his studies at the Indonesian Fine Art Academy (ASRI), Yogyakarta from 1977-1981. He creates his works using photographs which he restructures in geometric shapes as to construct a cosmic impression. Almost all of his works take their themes from children, spiritual figures or religious symbols. Exhibitions include: Asean Young Artist Now (Hong Kong, 1980), Biennale Seni Lukis IV (Jakarta, 1987), Realistic Images as Idiom (National Gallery, Jakarta, 1995), The Mutation: Painstaking Realism in Indonesian Art (Tokyo, 1997). In 2001, Sutjipto Adi held a one-man show at the ArtFolio Gallery, Singapore. | |||
