Locatelli, Romualdo Frederico |
(1905 - 1943, Italian) |
Born in Bergamo in 1905, Locatelli studied art at the Carrara Art Academy and soon rose to fame as a portraitist for the old ruling elite. He taught art at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, and held at least two exhibitions in Rome before his trip to the Dutch East Indies in December 1938, at the height of his career. Both exhibitions were opened by members of the royal family - the first by King Victor Emanuel III himself and the second by his son Umberto Prince of Piedmont, the future King Umberto II. |
