b. Ubud, Bali, 1937. He began painting wayang by self-training at the age of ten. Learned to paint from Ida Bagus Pugug for more ten years from 1954 through 1973. After that he learned from Rudolf Bonnet. In the 1970s Sudana had a number of pupils that included I Made Djongko from Keliki. Sudana’s son, I Made Palguna is now a modern painter educated at the Institute for the Art in Yogyakarta. His works featuring elongated figures, often exhibited in Bali and Jakarta also in Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Italy, the USA and Japan. | |
