Haris Purnomo |

| b. Klaten, C. Java, Indonesia, 1956. He graduated from Sekolah Seni Rupa Indonesia in 1975 and is an alumni of the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI), now called the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta in 1984. Since 1978, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Jakarta and Yogyakarta. Haris was one of the members of Pipa Group, which created quite a stir in mid-70s due to the contents of their exhibitions which was found to be highly critical to the government. His first solo exhibition was held at Nadi Gallery (Jakarta) in 2006, then in Galeri Nasional Indonesia (Indonesia's National Gallery) in 2007. Haris Purnomo was awarded The Schoeni Prize at the Hong Kong-based Sovereign Art Foundation, decided purely by public votes for his painting titled Child in Red. |
