Fadjar Siddik studied with Hendra Gunawan and Sudarso in Sanggar Pelukis Rakyat / People's Painters group in 1952, and then continued his studies at ASRI / Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts, Yogyakarta from 1954. He lived and painted in Bali for four years (1957 - 1960). From 1961 he taught at ASRI (now ISI) Yogyakarta where he also held the positions of Head of Painting Department and Assistant Director. In 1969 he traveled to New Zealand to learn painting restoration and conservation. He received an Art Award from the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture in 1971, and an Art Award from the Government of Yogyakarta in 1993. He has had solo exhibitions in Indonesia and has participated in group exhibitions in Indonesia, Japan, USA and The Netherlands.
