| Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, 1910 - The Hague, The Netherlands, 1963. Sonnega studied at the Kunstnijverheidschool in Amsterdam. He fist visited Indonesia in 1935 as a commercial artit. In 1937 he settledin Bali and dedicated himself fully to painting.During World War II he was interned and put in a camp by the Japanese. Afer a stay in Europe he returned to Indonesia to settlein Sumatra in 1953, then in Ubud, Bali. In 1958 he leftIndonesia unwillingly and returned to The Netherlands. He had several solo exhibitionsin The Netherlands in Amsterdam (1953), Amersfoot (1958) and The Hague (1965). |
