Natih Arimini, Ni Gusti Ayu | |
| (b. 1963, Indonesian) | |
| Born in Batuan, Bali, Indonesia, 1963. She is one of the few traditional Balinese female artists working professionally. Her interest in art developed by the time she was eight year old. Her talent was discovered under the guidance of her brother, I Gusti Ngurah Muryasa, five years her senior. She later learned from the famous Batuan artist, I Made Djata. Armini’s works often participated in various significant exhibitions, including the 1985 exhibition in Japan. In one of her painting published in the book by Klaus D. Hohn Reflection of Faith (1997), she illustrated mass and cakra, the wheel of life. Cakra symbolizes reincarnation, the continuous life. Almost all of Armini’s paintings present the prominent gods in Hindu Bali’s belief, such as Brahma, Wisnu and Syiwa among the figures of mortal crowds. For her, painting is a ritual approach to the Almighty, Sang Hyang Widhu Wasa. | |
