| Born in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 1928, died 2004. The painter who is also well known as a choreographer admitted that he learned painting from Sudiardja, Hendra Gunawan, Affandi, and Kusnadi before obtaining his formal art education from Indonesia's Academy of Fine Art/ Akademi Seni Rupa Indonesia (ASRI) Yogyakarta. He participated in numerous international solo and group exhibitions in ASEAN countries, Latin America, Scandinavia, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and some European countries. Among the awards received are Piagam BMKM (1959), Gold Medal from The Pope Paul VI (1973), Satya Lencana Dwidya Setha (1975), Gold Medal from Bangladesh Government, and ASEAN Awards (1987). | |
