| b. Kutoarjo, C. Java, 1921 - Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 1997 This self-taught painter started paintings and sculpturing at the age of 17 years old. In the second World War, he was a Meteorologist for the Allied Forces and during the Physical revolution he was a member of the 17th Brigade of the Indonesian Student Armed Forces. He joined Seni Rupa Masyarakat (The Art for Poeple) in 1946 along with Hendra, Rusli and Affandi and became its secretary. In 1965 was sent by Bung Karno to study museology in Mexico City. This mural painter is a member of the Organisacion Internacional de Muralistos del Mundo in South America. | |
