b. Manila, The Philippines, 1929 A pupil of National Artist Fernando Amorsolo, Araceli Dans graduated with a BFA Major in Painting from the University of the Philippines in 1950. She organized the Fine Arts Department for the College of Music and Fine Arts at Philippine Women’s University, joining several exhibits in a career that has exceeded four decades. These exhibits included the 1991 10 Top Filipino Women Artists group exhibit at Ayala Museum and her solo exhibit Flowers and Lace in 1994 at the Villa Musée, Fragonard, France as part of the Philippine Festival of Arts and Culture. Dans, an art educator, was a studio art teacher for the Ateneo Educational Television, winning the Citizens’ Award for Television for Best Educational Program Series in 1967, and continued her passion for art teaching over a number of schools and programs. Her works can be founded in respected institutional collections such as the National Museum, the Ateneo Art Gallery and the Central Bank of the Philippines. |
